Indira Sivasailam Endowment Fund

The Indira Sivasailam Endowment Fund was established to preserve and promote South Indian culture, Sanskrit literature and support Carnatic music, something that Smt. Indira Sivasailam cherished all through her life. She actively supported and encouraged young talent to excel in this field. Every sabha and concert saw her seated at the front row enjoying the performances that were interlaced with bhakti.

She firmly believed that classical musicians were responsible for propagating our rich cultural heritage and it was therefore their duty to share their knowledge and train young talent. It was her strong conviction that South Indian classical musicians par excellence be encouraged and recognized in their prime, that laid the foundation for this endowment fund and medal. The first Indira Sivasailam Endowment Award was presented to Smt. Sudha Ragunathan on October 15, 2010, thus marking the first of the Indira Sivasailam Endowment Concert series that is now Music Academy's Annual Navaratri Concert.
